How long does it take Quest Diagnostics to send drug test results to employer? ›

Drug test results are typically released within 24-72 hours of a specimen's arrival at the laboratory. We are not able to provide donors with information regarding the status of a specimen or the result of a drug test.

A: Quest Diagnostics tests for the following drugs: amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, marijuana, MDMA (ecstasy) and its metabolite, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, phencyclidine (PCP) and propoxyphene, synthetic cannabinoids (“K2/Spice”) and synthetic stimulants (“Bath Salts”).

At Quest, the drug test panel with the most drug/analytes included in it will be labeled as a 10-panel plus whatever add-on drugs may be included. For example, if a customer is requesting a 10-panel urine drug test with oxycodone, the drug test panel will read as “SAP 10-panel + Oxycodone”.

Getting your results

Most test results are available within 2-5 days of collection. Yet some complex testing may take 14 days or more. Quest sends completed test results directly to the ordering doctor for review.

Drug test results typically take 24 to 48 hours, depending on the type of test being performed (e.g., urine, hair or DOT). If Concentra serves only as the collection site for your drug tests, then results will be reported to you directly from your selected lab/third-party administrator, and result times may vary.

An inconclusive result is neither positive nor negative. This result can occur from inadequate sample collection, very early-stage infection, or for patients close to recovery.

How far back 10-panel drug tests go varies based on frequency of drug usage, individual rates of drug metabolism, and other factors. The detection window for most substances included in 10-panel drug testing is one to three days. However, some substances drugs may be detectable for longer based on chronic usage.

Diluting the sample by adding water can also raise red flags by changing the color and/or temperature of your urine; a clear sample will probably be rejected, as will a lukewarm one. Ignore the rumor going around that drinking bleach will purify your urine.

Can a Drug Test Detect Fake Urine? In short, yes. Synthetic urine is made from urea molecules that show up in tests as similar to human urine.

Are lab drug tests more sensitive? ›

Some kits may use breath, saliva or hair instead. The accuracy of these products is variable. They generally are less sensitive than the formal tests done in a laboratory. This means that a home test could be negative, but a laboratory test could be positive with the same sample.

Quest will send an email notification as soon as all results are available for review. You can view the results in the MyQuest app or log in to questhealth.com and view the Quest Results page. You can also check the status of your results on the same web page.

If you are waiting for lab results in CA, KY, MD, or PA, your lab results may be held for a period of time before they are released. This hold time is in place to comply with state-specific laws and is included in the estimated delivery date.

Sometimes incomplete or out-of-date demographic information gets sent with a lab test order. When this occurs, Quest Diagnostics can't always match a lab test result to your Quest Account, and in such cases, we can't send a lab test result to MyQuest.

The results are then shared with the employer and the candidate, usually within three to five days. If additional testing is necessary, or if the MRO is unable to contact the candidate, results could take up to 10 business days.

For a lab-based test, the collected specimen (urine, hair, oral fluid) is sent to a laboratory for more rigorous testing. As such, it takes longer to get the results (2-3 days, on average). A lab-based test can screen for any drug.

Question 10. What is the turnaround time for the QNatal Advanced test? Results are typically reported within 7 days after specimens are received in the laboratory. Results are sent to the ordering healthcare provider's office or to the electronic medical record (EMR).

Unforeseen circ*mstances, such as inclement weather or traffic, may delay the delivery of a specimen. Likewise, a drug test that is taken just prior to a holiday may move the process more slowly.
